Patience vs. Persistence

Patience: the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. How often do we not get our way in this world? Americans are the worst at this. We’ve virtually been handed any and everything we have ever needed or wanted throughout our lives. What if, instead of having patience, we have persistence? “A firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition”. Instead of sitting back and observing the lack of equilibrium in our life, we push through despite the off balance. We’ve gone through life hearing “patience is key”, yes, I have to agree, but what about persistence? To have that little nudge to our shoulder to keep us going. Patience is the safe zone of our lives. When we are patient we are able to sit back and accept that it’ll take some time. Having patience is like running a marathon though peanut butter; slow but sure. Persistence on the other hand is running that same marathon with a tail wind. As we continue to move forward we have two options: to find comfort and solitude, or to push through and embrace the chances that we encounter.
